Lucile Cornetet Awards for Professional Development

Individual Awards

Professional development may be defined as a growth-promoting, learning process that empowers employed educators, early-career educators, and second-educational-career educators to further excellence in education. Do you need money to help you pay for the workshops, courses or seminars that you wish to take? These awards are available to all educators  who meet the stated criteria. The application process is competitive.

Awards (money) given to individual educators assists their participation in professional development opportunities through approved professional development providers such as colleges, universities, and professional organizations other than The Delta Kappa Gamma Society International.

The most recent awards, made in February 2010, went to 19 educators who were awarded Cornetet Individual Awards for Professional Development totaling approximately $19,934.00.  The recipients of these most recent Individual Awards are from the following locations: Alabama, 1; California, 1; Florida, 3; Georgia, 3; Hawaii, 1;Iowa, 1; Kansas, 1; Kentucky, 1; Massachusetts, 1; Mississippi, 1; Nevada, 1; New York, 2; North Carolina, 1; Pennsylvania, 1.

As of February 2010, two hundred seventy-five (275) educators have received Cornetet Individual Awards totaling $87,986.82 for professional development activities. You may download a

Awards will fund participation in:

  • Conferences
  • Seminars
  • Lecture series
  • National certification
  • Online courses
  • Workshops and other non-degree programs

Awards may fund travel, lodging, meals, pay for substitutes, registration fees, etc. Awards may not be used to reimburse for activities already completed, to pursue a degree program, or to fund an educational project.

Complete information concerning the specifics of the Individual Awards and the current application form are available by mail from The Delta Kappa Gamma Educational Foundation and on the Documents page. Deadlines for Individual Awards applications are February 1, May 1, and September 1 of each year.

Seminar Awards
Cornetet Seminar Awards are granted to sponsor professional development seminars. Regions, areas, and state organizations of The Delta Kappa Gamma Society International may apply for a Seminar Award to assist in providing professional development opportunities for educators in their locale. As of November 2009, a total of $43,730 has been awarded for Seminar Awards. A complete list of awards given may be found on the Documents page.

 

The Seminar Award information and current application form are available by mail from The Delta Kappa Gamma Educational Foundation and on the Delta Kappa Gamma Society International website.  Application deadline for this award is November 1 of each year.
